It’s Not About A Product Or A Traffic Source Anymore !!!

Every day when I check my emails, I see a common question being asked.People asking what I think about a product, traffic source, marketer, funnel or something outside of themselves. So today I want to share with you what is going to help you build a business that you love. It’s not a product, traffic source or even a mentor.

I sell products, services and coaching, but trust me, I’m not the answer to your success.

A coach can only help you make a plan to execute.

Success comes from within you.

1. Be yourself

  • What do you stand for?
  • What do you like?
  • What do you not like?
  • What are your personality traits?

Let people into your world and embrace who you are.

Don’t try to imitate or be like someone else because you see they’re successful.

It’s good to take ideas from people’s businesses you like, but don’t try to copy them or act like them.

  • If you’re naturally a smart ass or sarcastic, then do it in your writing and video.
  • If you cuss then cuss.
  • If you’re more corporate, then be corporate.

You will naturally attract people similar to you because they resonate with your personality.

This is why you can have 100 people selling webinar courses and people will buy from who they like the most.

2. Create the content that speaks to your tribe.

I used to talk about myself a lot because I watched marketers brag about the money they made and how cool they are.
After a while I realised.

I didn’t like talking about the money I make.

I felt like a douche for doing it.

It’s not about me.

I will share my achievements every now and then, but I try not to talk a lot about money anymore.

Everything you create regardless if it’s a blog post, social media post, podcast or video….. it should all be about your audience.

Speak to their needs and what they want.

Spend a few days researching what they talk about on social media, what questions are they asking in FB groups or forums, what do they ask influencers who have big followings and what do they search for on Google and Youtube.

When you know this information it’s as simple as creating content that speaks to their needs, wants and desires.

Make everything you do about them.

Do you notice how 95% of my content is just giving away everything I know to help you?

There is a reason for that.

The more you help people the easier it is to grow your brand.

The longer it takes you to realize that money is simply serving a market the longer it will take you to succeed.

The key word is serving.

By serving, I mean helping and actually giving a shit about them.

Serving doesn’t just mean selling a product.

3. Care about your audience.

Everything you do should 100% be focused on them.

The only way to authentically do that is to actually care about them.

Always over deliver on your word and with your actions.

Respond to your emails, messages and social media posts personally.

This takes a lot of work, but people want to be connected.

With the internet, everyone wants to hide behind their computer and not talk to anyone.

Could a real business survive like this?

I answer every email, every post, every message and at the bare minimum try to like every comment to acknowledge I read it.

On the rare occasion, I won’t like someone’s comment when they responded to me, but it’s probably because I got side tracked and forgot.

I will see people with huge followings on FB, but they don’t respond or acknowledge a single comment so over time their responses from people die off.

Someone with a small tribe of say 2000 could be booming because they actually care about the people and the people feel it.

These little efforts make all the difference when growing your brand.

4. Pick one channel to master.

When building your brand you need to accept that you’re one person and if you have a job your time is limited.

You don’t have time for FB, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest and I’m sure there are 20 other networks.

Pick 1 or 2 and show up daily.

This can be free or paid, but just keep building.

Success doesn’t happen overnight.

  • You don’t build a following overnight.
  • You don’t build a relationship overnight.

More now than ever it’s important you’re showing up daily.

Every little post or content piece makes a difference.

Every day you build a little bit of value equity with your audience.

As you keep depositing more value you build up equity (like a mortgage) and eventually when you want to sell a product you can take out a deposit.

Without this, you will be buried.

This laptop lifestyle, do very little work and add no value crap people teach is slowly dying off and we’re absolutely thrilled about that.

Business is built on relationships and giving something of value in return for the money.

Pick a traffic source and be consistent.

Start planting your seeds and watering them daily and your business will thrive this year.

There is no secret traffic source or best traffic source. It’s the one you dedicate to building.

If you look at bloggers, podcasters, social media marketers and paid marketers.

They all have one thing in common.

They kept at it until they figured it out.

They didn’t show up and have success overnight.

Build, build, build and build some more!

I hope this helps, and if you ever have any questions, you can always go to askven.com and post your questions. I will answer them in the next episodes.

See you!
